Brookfield, Wisconsin, is a suburb of Milwaukee in Waukesha County. It is bordered by Menomonee Falls on the north, Wauwatosa and West Allis on the east (which are both adjacent to Milwaukee), New Berlin on the south, and Pewaukee and Waukesha on the west.
It was probably named for the brooks and fields that were in the area when it was established. The brooks are still there today, but the fields have virtually all been urbanized, holding about 41,500 residents.
