Waukesha, unknown type |
Waukesha, Wisconsin, is a city in Waukesha County located about 30 miles west of
Milwaukee, which is on Lake Michigan. I-94, US Highway 18, and state highways 16, 59, and 164 all run through the area. It has about 71,000 residents, of which I have been one since 1992.
It was first called Prairieville. It was changed to Waukesha which either comes from the Ojibwe Waagoshag meaning "foxes" or from the Potawatomi name Wau-tsha.
If you have thoughts on the "unknown type" precancel (or even want to suggest that it's not a precancel), let me know so I can update this post.
