Brillion, Wisconsin, is located in Calumet County on US Highway 10 about halfway between Appleton and Manitowoc, which is on Lake Michigan. It has about 3100 residents.
The origin of the name seems to have two stories. They could both be part of the same story.
1) When Brandon was rejected (because it already existed), postmaster T. N. West suggested Pilleola, which was a combination of letters from the names of his two daughters. One wonders what his daughters' names were. This too was rejected and Brillian was assigned instead. Note the spelling with the "a". Despite this spelling, the story is definitely about the same city.
2) A much simpler story says the town was named after Brilon, Germany.
It could be that those who finally decided on Brillian / Brillion had Brilon in mind at the time.
