Manitowoc, Wisconsin, is a city in Manitowoc County located on Lake Michigan about 75 miles north of
Milwaukee and 40 miles southeast of
Green Bay. It has the eastern terminus of US Highway 10. I-43 passes west of most of the city, catching the southwest corner just a bit. State highway 42 also runs through it. It has almost 35,000 residents.
Depending on which Indian language you use as a reference, the name Manitowoc means either "spirit-spawn", "spirit-wood", "spirit-land", or "place of the spirits". All in all, quite the spiritual place.
