Rothschild, Wisconsin, is a village in Marathon County at the meeting of I-39 (northern terminus), US Highway 51, and state highway 29 just south of
Wausau (and Rib Mountain and
Schofield). It has about 5500 residents.
It was named for a local who was called Baron de Rothschild and who may or may not have actually been a member of that family.
