Rudolph, Wisconsin, is a village in Wood County along state highway 13 / 34 about 5 miles north of Wisconsin Rapids. It has about 400 residents.
It was named for Frederick Rudolph Hecox, the first white boy born in the area. This is the story of its naming according to The Romance of Wisconsin Place Names.
Horace Hecox, the boy's father, and several other pioneers were sitting around a table trying to select a name for the town they were planning to build. The child creeping around under the table pulling at their trouser legs received little attention until someone remarked that it might be a good idea to name the town after him. None of them wanted to call it Frederick or Hecox, but all agreed on Rudolph.
