Schofield, Wisconsin, is a city in Marathon County along US (Business) Highway 51 and along and in the Wisconsin River (very technically, Lake Wausau) adjacent to Wausau to the north. It has about 2150 residents.
It was first known as Scholfield Mill after Dr. William Scholfield. Sometime later, the first "l" was dropped.
