Watertown, Wisconsin, is a city in Dodge and Jefferson counties located where state highways 16, 19, and 26 meet. It is about halfway between Madison and Milwaukee, which is on Lake Michigan. Watertown has about 23,000 residents.
It was first called Johnson's Rapids for Timothy Johnson. It may have been renamed for Watertown, New York, though its location on the Rock River likely had something to do with it too.
