Sturtevant, Wisconsin, is a village in Racine County and is adjacent to Racine to the east. (Racine is on Lake Michigan.) State highways 11 and 20 run through the area. Sturtevant has about 6900 residents.

The settlement has had many names. I think the following gives the correct order.

It was first called Parkersville for the Parker family. Then it was called Johnson for William M. Johnson, the first postmaster. Next came Western Union Junction due to the railroad. Then it was Corliss for the Brown Corliss Engine Works / Company (of Milwaukee). Finally it became Sturtevant for the B. F. Sturtevant Company.
