Rib Lake, Wisconsin, is a village in Taylor County along state highway 102 about 50 miles northwest of Wausau. (For some reason, Google maps currently calls highway 102, "102T" as well.) It has about 860 residents.
It was originally called Kennedy Mills after J. J. Kennedy. Someone though the lake, now surrounded by the village, looked like a rib. (Today, at least, it doesn't.) So Mr. Kennedy renamed the settlement Rib Lake.
