Oconto, Wisconsin, is a city in Oconto County on the west shore of Green Bay where US Highway 41 and state highway 22 meet about 30 miles north of the city of Green Bay. It has about 4600 residents.

The city is named for the river that runs through it and empties into Green Bay. That river has been called the Katon, the Lagaspardi, the Cantone, the Counton, the Gillispie, and the Black Bass. The Indian word for Oconto likely means "pike place".
