New Holstein, Wisconsin, is a city in Calumet County along state highway 32 about 25 miles southwest of Manitowoc, 25 miles northwest of Sheboygan, 25 miles northeast of Fond du Lac, and 30 miles southeast of Appleton. It has about 3100 residents.

The early settlers came from the Schleswig-Holstein area of Germany. They first called the settlement Altona (reason unknown), but when they learned of the similarity to Altoona (near Eau Claire), they changed it to New Holstein.
