Monroe, Wisconsin, is a city in Green County where state highways 11, 59, 69, and 81 meet. It is about 30 miles west of Beloit, which is on the Wisconsin-Illinois border about in the center of the state (east-west). Monroe has about 10,600 residents.

The origins of Monroe are a mess. Let's just leave it at this: Monroe was probably named for President Monroe.
