Mondovi

Mondovi 729
Mondovi, Wisconsin, is a city in Buffalo County at the intersection of US Highway 10 and state highway 37 about 20 miles south-southwest of Eau Claire. It has about 2500 people.

It was first called Pan Cake Valley and then Farringtons. No reasons are given for these names. Elihu B. Gifford subsequently got it renamed for Napoleon's Battle of Mondovi. (The enterprising man apparently did the same in Washington state later on. It seems that settlement met with much less success.)
