Lake Delton, Wisconsin, is a village in Sauk County located along I-90 / 94, adjacent to Wisconsin Dells (to the north), and about 20 miles west of Portage. US Highway 12 and state highway 23 also run through the town. It has about 3500 residents.
It was first called Norris for Edward Norris (though this may have only been the name of the township). When the post office was established, it was called Loretta after Mrs. Norris. Next it became Delton, a contraction of "Dell Town". Then it was Mirror Lake. Finally it became Lake Delton after the Lake Delton reservoir was created.
