Holmen, Wisconsin, is a village in La Crosse County along US Highway 53 just north of the city of La Crosse. It has a population of about 10,600.

The settlement was originally called Frederickstown after Frederick Anderson. Later it was called Cricken. Holmen may come from a Senator Holmen, from holm meaning land projecting into the water in Norwegian, holmen being a word for islet in Norwegian, or for a similarly-named location in Norway.
