Elderon, Wisconsin, lies in Marathon County where state highways 49 and 153 meet about 25 miles southeast of Wausau.
Elderon was named for the elder trees in the area. A possible extension of this idea is that it was named by a traveling minister who organized a Sunday School there and gave it that name.
