Delavan, Wisconsin, is located in Walworth County where I-43 and state highway 50 meet about 45 miles southwest of Milwaukee. State highway 11 also runs through the city, and US Highway 14 passes just to the southwest (through Darien). About 8500 people live in Delavan.
Delavan was named for Edward Cornelius Delavan of Albany, New York.
Roller Cancel
The stamp below looks at first glance like a precancel, but it's most likely a roller cancel. Note that the top (or right, if you rotate the stamp 90 degrees clockwise so the subject is upright) bends a bit. A precancel wouldn't have such a bent line. I'm leaving it here as an example of what to look for when trying to determine what is and isn't a precancel.
