Darlington, Wisconsin, is a city in Lafayette County found at the intersection of state highways 23 and 81 about 20 miles east of Platteville. It is home to almost 2500 people.
The town was originally laid out by Jamison Hamilton and was called Avon (which still exists, see below) or Centre. The name Centre stuck until the land was purchased by Joshua Darling.
