Couderay, Wisconsin, is a tiny village of about 85 residents in Sawyer County on state highway 70 about 30 miles north of Ladysmith. It is adjacent to the Courte Oreilles Reservation to the north.
Couderay is a shortened form of courtes oreilles, which means "short ears", a phrase used by early settlers for the local natives.
Couderay was frequented by Al Capone at a residence known as The Hideout.
