This village was originally called Salisbury's Mills, then Salzburg, then Newark. In 1853 is was named Barton after Barton Salisbury. But today, the village of Barton, Wisconsin, no longer exists. The township of Barton in Washington County is just north of West Bend, which is located at the intersection of US Highway 45 and state highway 33. The village of Barton was incorporated in 1925, but it was annexed by West Bend in 1961.
