Argonne, Wisconsin, is both a township and a census designated place (CDP) in Forest County. Both were apparently originally named Van Zile and then North Crandon before Argonne - after the French forest - was settled on in 1892.

Argonne lies at the point where state highways 55 and 32 meet. It is about 33 miles to Rhinelander (to the west) via Crandon (to the south). About 160 people live in the CDP of Argonne.
