About 20 miles north of
Green Bay in Oconto County is Abrams, Wisconsin. It was first settled in 1854 by Richard B. Yeaton who named it West Pensaukee. Pensaukee is 10 miles to the northeast on the shores of Green Bay. It's strange though because, according to the
Oconto County Historical Society, Pensaukee wasn't organized until two years later. Perhaps Yeaton was referring to the Pensaukee River which flows between the two towns. The town was renamed in the 1880s after a two-time mayor of Green Bay, William J. Abrams who owned land in the area.
About 350 people live in Abrams. When you're heading north, this is where US Highways 41 and 141 diverge again. (They joined forces in Green Bay.)
