Webster, Wisconsin, is a village in Burnett County along state highway 35 about 40 miles north of St. Croix Falls, which is on the St. Croix River. It has about 620 residents. The Gandy Dancer State Trail runs through the town.
It was first called Clam River, which seems strange because I don't think that stream flows through the area. It was changed to Webster in honor of Noah Webster. Why J. D. Rice wanted that name...who knows?
