Waupun, Wisconsin, is a city in Dodge and Fond du Lac counties where US Highway 151 and state highways 26 and 49 meet about 15 miles southwest of Fond du Lac. It has about 11,300 residents.
It was first called Madrid for Madrid, Vermont. It was supposed to be renamed Waubun (meaning "dawn"), but an error resulted in the spelling Waupun (apparently a meaningless word).
