Sheboygan Falls

Sheboygan Falls 714

Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, is a city in Sheboygan County located where state highways 28 and 32 cross. Highway 23 runs just north of town. It is adjacent to Kohler on the west, which is, in turn, adjacent to Sheboygan (also on the west), which lies along Lake Michigan. Sheboygan Falls has about 8200 residents.

It was first called Rochester after Rochester, New York. When it was found that name was already in use, Stedman for Silas Stedman was suggested but rejected. Then Coppacon of Indian origin was suggested and rejected. Finally it was named for the falls on the Sheboygan River. Sheboygan has an Indian origin, but the actual source is unknown.
