River Falls, Wisconsin, is a city in Pierce and St. Croix counties located where state highways 29, 35, and 65 meet about 10 miles southeast of Hudson, which is on the St. Croix River. It has about 16,000 residents.

It was first called Kinnickinnic for the river. When the residents want to officially call it Greenwood, they found the name was already taken, so they settled for River Falls for the rapids on the Kinnickinnic.
