Hudson, Wisconsin, is a city in St. Croix County on the St. Croix River where I-94 meets state highway 35. It has about 14,000 residents.
The settlement was first called Willow River because it is also situated where that river meets the St. Croix. Later it was changed to Buena Vista at the suggestion of Joel Foster who had just returned from the battle of the same name. After that, it was almost changed back to Willow River, but Hudson was chosen instead because the St. Croix reminded folks of the Hudson River in New York.
