Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, is a village in Sauk County on the western shore of the Wisconsin River where US Highway 12 and state highways 60 and 78 meet about 25 miles northwest of
Madison. It has about 4400 residents.
It is likely named from the French for Sauk Prairie because of the Sauk Indians who lived in the area.
