Port Wing, Wisconsin, is located in Bayfield County along state highway 13 on the shore of Lake Superior about 40 miles east of Superior and 40 miles (by road, but less as the crow flies) northwest of Ashland. Other than being situated as a port on the lake, no explanation for the name is known.
