Port Edwards, Wisconsin, is a village in Wood County adjacent to
Wisconsin Rapids to the northeast. It lies on both shores of the Wisconsin River. State highways 54 and 73 meet on the western side of the river. State highway 13 runs through the area on the eastern side. It has about 1750 residents.
It was originally called Frenchtown for the population but was changed to Port (even though not on a lake as many ports are) Edwards for John Edwards.
