Oak Creek, Wisconsin, is a city in Milwaukee County on Lake Michigan adjacent to Milwaukee and South Milwaukee to the north, Franklin to the west, and Caledonia to the south. I-41 / 94 and state highways 32, 38, and 100 run through it. State highway 241 (27th St. in Milwaukee) forms the border between Oak Creek and Franklin. Oak Creek has about 36,500 residents.
It is apparently named for the stream - Oak Creek - that runs through much of the city eventually ending up in Lake Michigan in what is now South Milwaukee. South Milwaukee was formerly Oak Creek as well.
