North Freedom, Wisconsin, is a village in Sauk County just south of state highway 136 about 7 miles west of Baraboo. It has about 700 residents.
It has been called Hackett's Corners (after some of the first settlers) and Bessemer (after Sir Henry Bessemer), but North Freedom was settled upon because it lies in the northern part of the town of Freedom, which, in turn, was named for the ideal of freedom.
