New Auburn, Wisconsin, is a village mostly in Chippewa County and a little in Barron County along US Highway 53 about 25 miles north of Chippewa Falls. It has about 575 residents.
It was first called Cartwright's Mills and then just Cartwright. No one knows why it was changed to New Auburn. It probably has something to do with part of the village being located in the township of Auburn.
