Merton, Wisconsin, is a village in Waukesha County about 10 miles north-northwest of Waukesha. Three state highways are just a couple miles away - 83 to the west, 16 to the south, and 164 to the east. Merton has about 3400 residents.

It was first called Warren after Sylvanus Warren. Mrs. Henry Shears suggested renaming it Moreton after the English town. The Romance of Wisconsin Place Names suggests that this town was connected to Oliver Cromwell, but I find no such connection. In any case, Moreton was later shortened to Merton.
