Marshfield, Wisconsin, is a city in Wood and Marathon counties at the intersection of state highways 13 and 97. US Highway 10 runs just south of town. It lies about 35 miles west of Stevens Point and has about 19,000 residents.

It was named either after John J. Marsh, or after his uncle Samuel Marsh, or after Marshfield, Massachusetts. It was definitely not because there were marshy fields in the area.
