Laona, Wisconsin, is located in Forest County at the intersection of US Highway 8 and state highway 32 about 35 miles east of Rhinelander. It has about 580 residents.
It was named for the daughter of Norman Johnson. The daughter's name was Leona, but it got misspelled in the legal papers as Laona, so it stuck.
