Franksville

Franksville 804
Franksville, Wisconsin, no longer exists as its own entity. Before 2006, when it became part of the village of Caledonia (to the north), it was located in Racine County east of I-94 about 5 miles west of Racine.

The origins of the name are a bit confusing. It was originally called Skunk Grove. It was later changed according to one of the following accounts.

Per Wikipedia, the name did not come from the Frank Pure Food Company as the town existed before the company. It may have been named for Frank Brandecker or Frank Drandieker. The Romance of Wisconsin Place Names mentions another Frank (last name unknown) who used to leave the train when it stopped in the area to pay court to a certain (unnamed) girl in the town. This became a standing joke on the line, and the settlement was referred to as Frank's Ville and then Franksville.
