Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, is located in Sheboygan County along state highway 67 about halfway between Fond du Lac (on Lake Winnebago) and Sheboygan (on Lake Michigan). It has about 1000 residents.

The town is named for the adjacent lake (Elkhart Lake) which is supposedly shaped like the heart of an elk. (It's not.) Another Potawatomi legend involved a young native girl drinking the blood of an elk's heart, but I won't go into the details here. (It's not gross, just unnecessary.)
