East Troy, Wisconsin, is located in Walworth County where I-43 and state highway 20 meet about 20 miles southwest of Waukesha. It has about 5600 people.
The village of East Troy is in East Troy township. Immediately to the west is the township of Troy. Originally the two towns were one. When they split, the one was simply called East Troy. The village takes its name from the town. Troy itself is named after Troy, New York.
