Eagle River, Wisconsin, is a popular vacation spot in Vilas County. It is located where US Highway 45 meets state highways 17 and 70. It has about 1600 residents. The origin of the name is fairly obvious - there were eagles along the river - probably the Wisconsin River which flows along the west side of town.
