Cameron, Wisconsin, is located at the intersection of US Highway 8 and 53 in Barron County a few miles south of Rice Lake. It has nearly 1800 residents.
Cameron was named by a Mr. Stanley, a surveyor, after Senator Angus Cameron of La Crosse. It was originally located a bit to the south, but was literally moved north one winter to be closer to the railroad crossing.
