Black Earth 841 |
Black Earth, Wisconsin, is a village located at the intersection of US Highway 14 and state highway 78 about 20 miles west of Madison in Dane County. It was originally named Black Earth after Black Earth Creek that runs through it. The name flipped to Farmersville in 1848, to Black Earth in 1851, to Ray (no idea who this was) in 1858, and finally back to Black Earth (also in 1858) when it incorporated. About 1400 people live in the town.
