Augusta, Wisconsin, lies about 20 miles southeast of Eau Claire along US Highway 12 (where it meets state highway 27) in Eau Claire County. Originally named Ridge Creek (not Bridge Creek, which runs through the town), it got its current name either from Augusta, Maine, or from Augusta Richard, a visitor from Oak Creek who was elected prettiest girl in town.
About 1500 people live in Augusta where they (nearly) annually have celebrated Bean and Bacon Days since 1977.
