Wilmot

Wilmot, Wisconsin, is located in Kenosha County and is now part of the village of Salem Lakes. On its own, it has about 450 residents. It lies on the Wisconsin-Illinois border about 20 miles west of Kenosha, which is on Lake Michigan.

It was first called Gilead for Gilead, Connecticut. It was renamed Wilmot for the Wilmot Proviso which, in turn, was named for Congressman David Wilmot.
