Tomahawk, Wisconsin, is a city in Lincoln County at the intersection of US Highway 51 and state highways 86 and 107 about 40 miles north of Wausau. It has about 3400 residents.

It is named for the Tomahawk River which is said to be named as a result of a Sioux-Chippewa battle that ended with a hatchet being buried on its shore.
