Potosi, Wisconsin, is a village in Grant County at the intersection of US Highway 61 and state highway 133 near the Mississippi River and about 15 miles west of Platteville. It has about 660 residents.

Snake Hollow (aka Head of the Hollow), Van Buren, and La Fayette combined to form Potosi. The origin of the name Potosi is unclear. It may be named for Potosi, Bolivia or Potosi, Missouri. Less likely is that it is a corruption of Julien Dubuque's wife's Indian name, Potosa.
