Onalaska, Wisconsin, is a city in La Crosse County located at the intersection of I-90 and US Highway 53 adjacent to the city of La Crosse to the south and the Mississippi River on the west. It has about 18,800 residents. The name likely comes from Oonalaska, which is mentioned in the poem "The Pleasures of Hope" by Scottish poet Thomas Campbell.
