Minoqua

Minoqua 712
Minoqua, Wisconsin, is located in Oneida County adjacent to Woodruff (to the north) where US Highway 51 intersects state highway 70. (State highway 47 also runs just to the north through Woodruff.) It is mostly on a peninsula in Lake Minoqua, making it nearly an island city, about 25 miles northwest of Rhinelander.

The name seems to come the the Chippewa (Ojibwe) language, either from Chief Minocquip or from ninocqua which means "noon day rest".
