Manawa, Wisconsin, is a city in Waupaca County about 15 miles northeast of Waupaca. It has about 1400 residents. The settlement was first called Brickley (source unknown), but the post office was first called Elberton after Elbert Scott, the first postmaster. It was renamed for a Winnebago Indian of legendary status.
